I have always wanted to work with people. I wasn't even aware that coaching was a 'real' profession until I saw an article about ICA in one of our local newspapers. I was so excited to do what I felt was my true calling in life.

ICA's program is world class. Their high quality website isn't just a front - the level of professionalism at ICA flows right through the program. On top of that, you'll be dealing with trainers who are fantastic people and experts in their chosen field.

I now run a full time coaching practice and my life is the best it has ever been. Coaching is the job of a life time. If you're passionate about people, I can't recommend a better career.

Q. Why did you become a coach?
At a certain point in my career I realized that sustainable change in people could not come from training alone. There had to be more than that. Then one evening, a good friend gave me an article on ‘coaching'. That was it! It changed my entire life from then on. There was no turning back. I wanted to be a Coach who could add real value to people. And I was going to be the first in my country, Malaysia!

Q. What was your previous profession?
I have been in ‘mixed bag’ of CEO positions for a number of companies over a span of 23 years. Just to quote a few; I was the Executive Director of a travel retail chain, a Managing Director for a tourism college and a Group Human Resource Director.

Q. Why did you choose ICA?
I chose ICA because it was ‘near home’ and has an ICF accreditation status. I was also attended to by some very professional people who took pains to understand my needs and then helped me to chart my path for a professional career in coaching.

Q. Once enrolled what was your overall impression of ICA?
From a coaching perspective, I ‘grew up and was nurtured’ to be a professional certified coach here and the first in Malaysia! Fears and apprehension about coaching and how I could fit into this profession were turned into confidence and courage. Now I can and dare coach anyone, anywhere. This I owe to ICA.

Q. What is the most valuable thing you got from the program?
I gained international exposure in Coaching. Wow! The internationally-diverse coaching community I was a part of was the biggest thing I got out of this. This really helped in understanding cross cultural issues and the diversity of coaching issues that gave me a fantastic foundation to plunge in professional coaching.

Q. What sets ICA apart from other training schools?
It is the people there who really made the difference. I felt so much at ease from Day 1. Talking or dealing with everyone, from the CEO, the senior management staff to the administrator was so very very easy. Things get done fast. What more can you ask for?

Q. What do you like most about your life/job now?
I can make a positive difference to people’s life. They move ahead far more better and faster now. They thank you for what the help and support given. They tell their friends and I get the job, build my reputation, credibility and business.

Q. What would you say to others contemplating becoming a coach?
Make a firm commitment that Coaching is what you want. Focus on building your self, and at the same time embark on an innovative marketing and promotion plan to grow your coaching business.

After over two years of investigating coaching and evaluating the training available I chose International Coach Academy. I felt that ICA’s training provided a thorough process for learning from teleclasses to online training through Discussion Board, and I was especially interested in the smaller class size, which I think provides a better learning atmosphere.

Although I didn’t realize the importance immediately, the fact that my own coach was provided as part of the training has also been an invaluable learning tool. Working with my own coach early in my training has helped make the coaching process very clear allowing me to learn at a faster pace.

I am now the Business Coach for 14 sales managers and over 800 sales agents of a national real estate company. I credit ICA and the training I am receiving for the enhanced confidence in my coaching abilities and my ongoing excitement to support others as they achieve their goals and make breakthroughs in their lives. I am excited in my new career and look forward to creating many more successes in my coaching.
