Why become a Certified Coach?

Certification is one way we recognize and connect with each other. It helps us choose products and services that represent the best of what’s available and the best choice for us. The same is true when it comes to coaching. Coach certification allows you to confidently serve the world as a skilled, trained, and proficient coach according to the highest standards of the profession.

We provide an internationally recognized Certified Professional Coach Program (CPCP) fully accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF). Our program exceeds all of the requirements set out by the ICF, providing all of the educational hours you need to apply directly to ICF for your Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential or your  Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential.

Coach Certification is also about trust. For example, as an accredited institution, you can trust that ICA operates with sound financial management. You can trust that our coach training curriculum and practicum are built on a client focused methodology and delivered by qualified coach trainers. We call them learning leaders.

Leaders like our CEO, Bronwyn Bowery-Ireland, who holds the highest attainable ICF designation of MCC (Master Certified Coach).

Certification and Industry Credibility

Over the last seven years the coaching industry has grown at an incredible rate and at one point, was the second fastest growing profession in the world (next to IT). That’s the great news! This encouraging growth allows us to enjoy the possibilities of being a coach. However, it also makes accredited training more essential than ever. Increasingly people are claiming the title of "coach" without any formal qualification. By certifying coaches we take both an active role in supporting highly competent coaches and in enhancing the credibility of the coaching profession as well.

Accredited Coach Training

ICA has gone through a rigorous process of accreditation with the International Coach Federation (ICF) and is one of a select few to achieve the impressive designation of Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP). Such accredited programs are continuously reviewed and evaluated for excellence in curricula, core competencies, faculty, structure, proficiency, and ethics to support the highest quality coach training.

With completion of our ICF-accredited program, you are fulfilling many of the requirements for ICF's Professional Certified Coach credential and, for example, there is no need to take additional ICF written exams once you graduate from our CPCP program.

As an Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) we offer:
•    A minimum of 125 hours of coach-specific training
•    Training on all ICF Core Competencies and the ICF Code of Ethics
•    A minimum of 6 observed-coaching sessions with an experienced coach
•    A comprehensive final exam that evaluates a student's coaching competency
•    In the US and Canada, a Director of Training holding the MCC credential.
•    Certified graduates of ACTPs may apply for an
ACC or PCC credential using the ACTP graduate application.

Benefits of an ICF recognized credential:
•    Enhances your credibility and reassures potential clients that you are
      an experienced and professional coach
•    Demonstrates that you stand by a strong code of ethics
•    Demonstrates a high knowledge and skill level
•    Reinforces the integrity of the coaching profession
     nationally and internationally.

That’s why over 500 coaches graduate from our coach training program every year, and hold the industry recognized designation of Certified Professional Coach. Our Certified Professional Coach Program curriculum offers a globally accredited framework for those wanting to pursue coaching as a professional, financially viable, and rewarding career.
