What are the Coaching Groups?
At ICA we support a range of industries and specialist areas for coaches through online networking groups (listed below) These groups, or communities of practice, meet regularly and connect online to exchange ideas, challenges and strategies that are particular to their niche area.
Why develop a Coaching Specialization?
There are many good reasons for developing an area of coaching specialization, especially as a new or emerging coach. Many of these reasons are marketing related, and they are listed below. However besides marketing motivations – it actually makes good pedagogic sense to develop a niche.
Coaching is based on recognizing people’s strengths and developing them. As a coach this is what you do with your clients – so it makes sense that you would do this yourself as well. You are coming to coaching with an already well developed area of specialization – here are some examples:
- Your profession (ie management consultant, teacher, social worker, real estate agent)
- Your family experience (single mother, working father, positive parenting devotee, parent of child with autism etc.)
- Your life experience (active traveller, sportsperson, expat partner etc.)
- Each of these areas (and there are many many more) is an area of expertise, and we believe the best place to start coaching is within your area of expertise.
At ICA we actually teach you how to do develop your own unique coaching model and coaching process and work with you to develop a market and business plan for your niche.
