Program Features
All our programs include a combination of the following:
Coaching Skills and Techniques
Coaching skills are taught across 5 learning levels, with each module delivered via two teleclasses, offering a part 1 and a part 2. Each teleclass is an hour long and each learning level is delivered via its own dedicated bridge line (see table 1 below).
Learning Level 1
22 hours of teleclasses plus reading and posting on the discussion forum.
This level is an introductory level with a focus on developing a strong foundation and understanding of coaching principles, as well as getting core skills such as powerful listening.
Learning Level 2
22 hours of teleclasses plus reading and posting on the discussion forum.
Learning Level 2 is designed to provide you with the skills and techniques to be an effective coach and focuses on gaining an understanding of fundamental coaching skills.
Learning Level 3
16 hours of teleclasses plus reading and posting on the discussion forum.
Level 3 is the Power Tool range. These Power Tools were specifically designed for you to use with your clients.
Learning Level 4
16 hours of teleclasses plus reading and posting on the discussion forum.
Learning Level 4 extends knowledge and skills in coaching techniques and tools. Coaching Processes and Coaching Models are developed at this level.
Learning Level 5
14 hours of teleclasses plus reading and posting on the discussion forum.
Learning Level 5 is full of rigor. You will explore all about taking the knowledge of coaching and applying it to the way a client feels. It is within our feelings that our beliefs and values are stored. You will be trained at this level to work in
greater depth with your clients.
Peer Coaching (24 sessions as the client / 60 sessions as the coach)
To fully experience coaching and to be guided and mentored in the early stages of your training, you will have the opportunity to coach and be coached. Your coaches will be advanced students and the coaching will consist of a total of 24 coaching sessions with at least 50 percent of the contact by telephone. The opportunity to be coached and to provide coaching yourself in the Peer Program enables you to put your theory into practice from Day 1. Throughout the program you will coach 5 peer clients, both internal and external, for a total of 60 sessions.
Coaching Practicum (18 hours)
Our Coaching Practicum is focused on intense coaching practice and feedback. Here you join other coaches in role playing and practice coaching in your niche while an experienced coach facilitates the classes. You received support, direction and constructive feedback to develop and fully realize your coaching skills.
Supervised Coach (18 hours)
This is a great opportunity to learn as you and your fellow students coach while an ICF credentialed coach supervises the coaching. This course is part of the assessment requirements at ICA and offers you an extraordinary opportunity to learn by doing.
This experience is rich and deep and you will coach at a high level. The small group focus provides you with support and will be one of the greatest experiences in your coach training at ICA.
Coaching Assessments
Other requirements include creating your own coaching model; writing a research paper; completing a self assessment and record of participation; submitting coaching reflections from peer clients; developing your own ‘powertool’; and a Supervised Coaching and Oral Assessment for the completion of your professional coach certification.
No Extra Fees
At ICA we believe in full disclosure. That means that the costs you see here are complete.
- There is no ‘extra cost’ or hidden fees.
- Your own coach, for example, is often a requirement of coach training schools – and for good reason. The difference with ICA is that we include this valuable learning process in your training fee.
- There is also no extra charges for books, folders or assessments.
