Overview

The {T} Project is the coaching model for transformative change.

It has 2 dimensions:

The {T} Plane describes the space and elements which makes it conducive for
transformative change to take place.

The {T} Process describes the process a coachee goes through as s/he goes on
the transformative journey.

Background

In constructing the {T} Process Coaching Model, I have drawn from my own journey of transformation and reflections from my own coaching practice. It was important to me that the model reflects who I am and the work that I have done and will do with my clients.

The {T} Plane outlines the elements that helped me start and sustain the process of transformation. I have invested in my own personal clarity and I know it has helped me with a lot of the issues I have/am grappling with. The desire and accountability spells success in any journey as well. As long as you want it, you can get it. I am also a planner and a plan of action helps me just clarify the journey I will take. And in my journey, I have not been alone – and in my coaching, I also
realized that people need to recognize that they are not alone. That there are also people and things/structures in their lives that can support them in the journey. Knowing this gives a lot of hope and empowerment.

The {T} Process was loosely based on St. Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises. In my journey, prayer, Spiritual Direction, Retreats and the like were key to my transformation journey. It may be a theological basis but it has proved to be very relevant and has aligned me with my Creator, the Universe , my values and my core.

The {T} Plane

The {T} Plane is the space where transformation takes place.

There are two elements that enable transformative change:

The Y-Axis: where change emanates.

The X-Axis: where change occurs.

The Y-Axis is about the Coachee, it’s about You.

Before any change to take place, first there should be Personal Clarity and Desire and Accountability.

Coachees start with an understanding (even if how little it may be) of themselves and their lives – they evaluate this and see some aspects of it that they want to change. After realizing this, they seek support – in this case they have been lead to a Coach. The process of personal clarity does not end there. Rather, throughout the coaching process the coachee will discover more and more and use that knowledge in his/her transformation journey.

Coachees, armed with the knowledge of who they are, where they are and what they want to happen in their lives has that inner desire to make it happen. With desire, accountability will sustain that in their journey of transformation. At the end of the day, the work is of the coachee. S/he has the power and control over his/her own life. S/he would want and be accountable for change.

The {T} Plane

The X-Axis is where change occurs, it is where the action happens.

After reflection, clarity, desire and accountability, one can go ahead and make change happen. In order for the coachee to have a solid step in making the transformative change in his/her life, s/he should have a Plan of Action and
Support Structures.

Plan of Action provides the solid direction of where to do and how to get there. What are the steps the coachees need to take for change to take place.

Support Structures provides the necessary support for the coachee in his/her
everyday life. These are the sources of strength the coachee can rely on in times
of furstration, disillusionment or difficulties.

The {T} Plane

T-Process

Desire for Freedom / Change
For any change to happen, there must be a desire for freedom / change.

Healing from “Hang-Ups” / Issues / Pain
To move forward, one needs to find healing of issues that are blocking their progress.

Discernment of One’s Deepest Desires
For change to happen, first one must know what to change and where to go.This step deals with solidifying the intention and the specific direction one needs to take.

Responding to One’s Deepest Desires After the direction / goal has been set, one may now take action and “just do it!”

Living in Alignment

At the end of the day, people are happier and more contented in their lives if it is
in alignment with their values, and deepest desires.

The {T} Process: Directionality Process: Directionality

In as much as the {T} Process follows a simple, straightforward cyclical pattern, how it pans out in real life may not be as clean as it looks. The arrows can skip steps or go to the next step and move back and move two steps forward. It all depends on where the coachee is and the process will flow based on his/her needs and where s/he directs it. The {T} Process outlines the major elements of the process and provides a general framework but does not intend to be limiting.

Application

The {T} Plane and the {T} Process may be used in many coaching situations. In particular, I have used this model in Career Coaching and Life Coaching.
