At the fulcrum point of leadership is the essence of your resilient strength. Resilience is your inner strength to take it, your mental strength to react to it, your outer strength to respond to it, and all your strength to recover from it. Jeffrey Gitomer

Resilience Just the sound of the word – resilience – sparkles as it rolls off the tongue. It has energy and enlightenment and feels like a powerful word. For those that demonstrate resilience in how they deal with life’s challenges, this is exactly how they see themselves. Ask yourself this – when faced with life’s challenges, when things go wrong, when your plans don’t fall into place, do you bounce back or do you fall apart?

There is nothing that creates a future better than a dream: Today it is only utopia, tomorrow it will be reality.

A personal translation of a quote of Viktor Hugo from German into English

    Introduction

Have you ever been in a situation where you exactly knew what you are striving for? Clearly picturing what you want and what you are striving for? - How did that feel?

Or do you usually rather know, what you don’t want to have in place or in life anymore, taking that as a starting point for change and development?

According to A Course in Miracles there exist only two emotions  – Love; guided by Truth, and Fear; guided by Ego.  The decisions made with one or the other when faced with a personal challenge can be the difference between setting oneself free or binding oneself in chains.

At the heart of my coaching philosophy is the principle that you are the creator of your own reality, and therefore you have the power to change it. When you take responsibility for your thoughts, words, actions, and habits, the power to create personal change is strengthened as it extends from you, rather than the belief it comes to you. This is the true source for real and lasting transformation!

    Why an Iris?

The iris is a beautiful and hardy flower that loves light.  During the Middle Ages, irises were used by French monarchy to represent “perfection, light and life.”   The delicate flower stands atop of a hardy stem giving it a firm foundation.  Another type of iris is a part of the eye.  It is the colored disc inside of an eye.  The color, texture and patterns of each person’s iris are as unique as a fingerprint.  It is responsible for controlling the diameter and size of the pupil and thus the amount of light reaching the retina.

    Telling, Teaching or Coaching

    Personal development through coaching

I have been in the business of managing people for most of my working life, some twenty plus years. A little more than two years ago, I completely changed careers and transitioned to a new role as a leadership coach. I coach leaders at all levels and across a multitude of industries to reinforce the skills and tools they learn in a 12-month leadership training process. I thought this transition would be a slam dunk. I've worked with people for years and always prided myself in being a fairly good manager, establishing relationships and motivating people, so why not coach

    Preamble

"Coaching is a powerful conversation to enable change. Coaching Models support the client, the coach and the coaching process to create this change with awareness".

This quote from the ICA support document on Coaching Models clearly sets out the value for a coach to have a coaching model. It is not surprising that there are millions of possibilities of models for coaches to choose from. The key is that the model a coach uses must align with their own values, beliefs and style as well as niche, to be truly valuable in the coaching process.

[Research Paper] The Power of Why…..More Than a Three Letter Word

    Introduction

It’s everywhere, every day, everybody, every job – sadness, fatigue, burnout, frustration, anger, resentment, boredom, lack of engagement, blame, discontent, disappointment, lack of productivity. In general, as a society the problems and challenges we face both in our personal and professional work lives are keeping us from living the life we want, from being happy and feeling fulfilled and charged up about who we are and what we are doing. Some of us may be better off than others, yet in general, we truly are not living to our full potential, in ease, in happiness, joy and abundance. WHY is that? The key may be in that simple three letter word WHY. When you say it, your voice goes up and it becomes not a word but a question.
