Why an Iris?
The iris is a beautiful and hardy flower that loves light. During the Middle Ages, irises were used by French monarchy to represent “perfection, light and life.” The delicate flower stands atop of a hardy stem giving it a firm foundation. Another type of iris is a part of the eye. It is the colored disc inside of an eye. The color, texture and patterns of each person’s iris are as unique as a fingerprint. It is responsible for controlling the diameter and size of the pupil and thus the amount of light reaching the retina. -

This quote from the ICA support document on Coaching Models clearly sets out the value for a coach to have a coaching model. It is not surprising that there are millions of possibilities of models for coaches to choose from. The key is that the model a coach uses must align with their own values, beliefs and style as well as niche, to be truly valuable in the coaching process. -

In general, as a society the problems and challenges we face both in our personal and professional work lives are keeping us from living the life we want, from being happy and feeling fulfilled and charged up about who we are and what we are doing. Some of us may be better off than others, yet in general, we truly are not living to our full potential, in ease, in happiness, joy and abundance. WHY is that? The key may be in that simple three letter word WHY. When you say it, your voice goes up and it becomes not a word but a question.
