Coach Training Teleclasses (60 hours)

Peer Coaching
To fully experience coaching and to be guided and mentored in the early stages of your training, you will have the opportunity to coach and be coached. Your coaches will be advanced students and the coaching will consist of a total of 12 coaching sessions with at least 50 percent of the contact by telephone. The opportunity to be coached and to provide coaching yourself in the Peer Program enables you to put your theory into practice from Day 1. Throughout the program you will coach 3 peer clients, both internal and external, for a total of 36 sessions.

Communities of Practice (24 hours)
Our Communities of Practice is a 24-week focus on intense coaching practice and feedback in your niche market. Your niche market can be one you have experience in or one you are passionate about. Here you join other coaches in role playing and practice coaching in your niche while an experienced coach from your niche facilitates the classes. You received support, direction and constructive feedback to develop and fully realize your coaching skills.

Supervised Coach (9 hours)
This is a great opportunity to learn as you and your fellow students coach while an ICF credentialed coach supervises the coaching. This course is part of the assessment requirements at ICA and offers you an extraordinary opportunity to learn by doing.
This experience is rich and deep and you will coach at a high level. The small group focus provides you with support and will be one of the greatest experiences in your coach training at ICA.

Coaching Assessments
Other requirements include creating your own coaching model; writing a research paper; completing a self assessment and record of participation; submitting coaching reflections from peer clients; and Supervised Coaching for the completion of your program.

In our program, you are both student AND teacher. Your unique experience, strengths, and wisdom are as rich with learning as anything you will read in our written modules, our list of resources or even the guidance of our trainers. This is coach training designed with each of you in mind!

Practise Your Coaching Skills Within a Coaching Specialty

As one of the largest, most diverse coaching training schools in the world, ICA can offer an increasing range of coaching specializations. These are driven by the global market and community needs and are often inspired by our current students and graduates.

These Coaching Groups are niche-specific practicum networks within our student body where you can develop the practical side of your coaching. Here you can run around, so to speak, in a creative space of discussion, discovery, and development of a niche.  Members of our coaching groups come together to laugh, share, practise, and discuss their own resources, experiences, stories, tools, and ways of addressing common coaching issues — in short they have developed a shared practice to better serve their respective communities. Each practicum is facilitated by an experienced coach and trainer related to the coaching specialty.

Each Coaching Group has a corresponding Forum – a meeting place providing a dynamic and funky place for brainstorming, creativity, information and resource sharing, a source for all those interested in a particular coaching specialty which allows you to continue the conversation beyond just the teleclass environment.

The more you practise, the more confident you will be as a coach.

Core Coaching Program Values

International Coach Academy holds, and has always held, these five fundamental principles of
Respect, Flexibility, Community, Professionalism, and Diversity.

Respect

You bring with you a lifetime of learning. We respect this and see as a basic principle of adult learning. You’ll experience it in the way our trainers facilitate teleclasses, in the rich content of our modules, and our dedicated commitment to strong student support. We all learn differently and benefit from a flexible, versatile environment where we’re in charge of how we learn. Throughout your program, you will be encouraged to draw from, and share, your life experiences. This fuels and enriches your own experience and that of others as well. This is the very model of powerful coaching!

Derrick Tran, Life Coach  Japan – ICA 2010
“Several years ago I did some soul searching and found that I was in need of a change with the direction of my life. Something challenging, mind and soul stimulating and rewarding in all aspects. After doing some research on the web and speaking to several friends, I discovered ICA. When reading the testimonials, listening to the audio files and talking to an open-hearted ICA representative, I knew that ICA was the place to be for me to expand my knowledge and grow my spirit. My journey with ICA has been a ‘six star by far’ experience. It is fantastic being surrounded and supported by wonderful trainers and students with similar goals and values.”

Flexibility

We are flexible in our workplace, flexible in our approach to clients and colleagues and flexible in our thinking. Consequently we have designed a fully flexible learning environment that enables you to choose your unique learning pathway. This puts you at the center of your learning – you decide when you want to learn and the pace of your personal learning. What you put into this program is what you will get out of it. Everyone has different goals and visions for their learning. You are not required to fit into our program but empowered to create your own personal learning plan as you move through the content.

Raji Menon, Youth Coach, Canada – ICA 2010
“I needed a course that was flexible in every way. My job as a general surgeon in a small community made my time very precious, and my schedule very unpredictable. ICA gave me the option to take the classes from the convenience of my home, in any order I wanted, and in my own time. Once I joined, I was impressed with the way everything was handled. I have now been attending the classes for 3 months, and have found a huge shift in my own thinking.”

Community

People say we have a lot of ‘heart’ at ICA. We are often told that our customer service exceeds all expectations. This makes us beam. It may sound hokey but we love working with people and learning more about them. Everyone at ICA is passionate about building an exceptional coaching and training community. The flow-on effect of this passion is not to be underestimated. It touches the curriculum at every level. The community would not be complete without you. All our graduates play a major role in our community and we are amazed how passionate they become about our community and how each new student enriches our community in ways we could never have imagined.

Lisa Bloom, Storytelling Coach, Israel – ICA 2008
“ICA was a phenomenal experience for me. I discovered a whole new world at  ICA – the sense of community was phenomenal and the ability to interact with people all over the world was great. I began to learn the language of coaching and recognized myself in this world of unending possibility, positivity and inspiration. I learnt the importance of community and the technology that enabled my studies and the creation of this community is what I base my business on now!”

Professionalism

ICA has a proven track record in the coach training industry. As an Accredited Coach Training program (ACTP), our students meet the ethical and professional standards set out by the International Coach Federation. Ours is not a program that you complete over a weekend or a few days – the rigor of the program requires your personal commitment to be a coach. We are proud of our graduation success rate – 95% of all enrollees complete the course and are awarded the title of Certified Professional Coach. It is this drive to be the best, to truly make a difference in the lives of others, that has earned high regard in the coaching profession.

Rachel Eva Gamburd, Intuitive Life Coach, USA – ICA 2010
“As I researched the ICA website more, every time I went to it, it felt right. It was an accredited school by ICF. I liked that because it brought credibility to the coaching profession. The curriculum was thorough and organized. I liked the fact that they took coaching seriously and treated the education and certification with professionalism.”

Diversity

We love and celebrate diversity! Our students come from many different professional and cultural backgrounds. We designed our programs to be inclusive of the world’s many diverse cultures. We believe the coaching principles we deliver serve people across all cultures, no matter how different they may seem to be on the surface. At ICA, you will be learning and sharing ideas in a truly global classroom environment with people bringing fresh new perspectives to the way you see the world. Our lives and experiences may all be different and our reasons for coming to ICA are different but we share one thing in common – the community we create. Our community is welcoming to all.

Robyn Loup, Life Coach, USA – ICA 2009
“The highlight for me was being coached and coaching fellow students. It was very exciting to coach students from different parts of the world. ICA’s culture is so positive and accepting of all personalities, ages, gender, nationalities. The diversity of the student body and teachers was a highlight of the process.”
